Cellular SID Administration

Cellular System Identification numbers (SIDs) are unique codes assigned to each cellular telephone system operator.  The SID is used by a cellular telephone to identify the home system of the cellular base station currently in use, and thus determine roaming status.  SIDs were formerly assigned by the FCC during the process of issuing cellular system licenses, however, effective October 1, 2003, the Commission transferred the functions of SID assignment and recording to the private sector.

Hammett & Edison, Inc., is a recognized SID Administrator, and as such can provide SID administration services, including assignment of new SIDs, modification of exising SID registration information, and cancellation of registrations for SIDs no longer in use.

If you require SID administrative services, please contact us for further assistance.  To begin the process, you may also complete the Request for New or Modified SID Registration form and return it to us by mail, e-mail, or facsimile.  Once we have received the completed form, we will contact you, to confirm the information and arrange for payment of fees.  A fee of $100 will be charged for individual requests for assignment of a new SID or modification of an existing SID registration.  Please allow 3-5 working days for your request to be processed.
